Mastercard is teaming up with fintech platform upSWOT to offer small- and medium-sized businesses in Western Europe a deeper look into their finances. The partnership, announced last week, aims to address cash-flow pain points by using Mastercard’s sales channels to offer upSWOT’s business-driven insights platform.

The Charlotte, N.C.-based upSWOT provides cash-flow analysis and other business insights, powered by standardized data from 147 API-enabled apps, such as QuickBooks, Xero and others. The company offers its product on a subscription model and will “divide the revenue,” with Mastercard under the partnership, Dmitry Norenko, chief executive at the fintech, told Bank Automation News.

While the company’s product is only available to Mastercard partners in Europe as of now, upSWOT has plans to expand into the United States, Norenko said.

“We focus on delivering digital solutions, such as those offered in partnership with upSWOT … that simplify the process for small businesses, so they are not merely surviving, but thriving,” Marcus O’Toole, Mastercard vice-president, and head of small business segment solutions Europe, said in a statement.

In April upSWOT signed a co-sell agreement with Microsoft that includes support from Microsoft’s sales network and a free proof-of-concept of its business finance management platform on Microsoft’s Azure cloud. The deal helped the fintech acquire three new client banks, including the $1 billion First Southern National Bank based in Lancaster, Ky.

UpSWOT, which has raised a total of $5 million in three funding rounds, is part of Fintech Discovery, BAN’s start-up directory, and was recently featured in a demo video available to Premium subscribers.
