In June, Citigroup quietly launched a new accounts receivable platform called Connect and Pay. The system allows billers to send e-bills to users and allows bill payment through a variety of channels, including mobile banking.

“As more payment channels become available, consumers want the flexibility and freedom to choose their preferred channel for paying bills,” the video says.

The solution also offers a “robust suite of innovative tools” on the backend for billers, the video says.

Mobile customers are demanding more options for paying bills quickly and conveniently, and customer behavior with bill pay is changing, powered by new capabilities of the smartphone. It’s encouraging to see Citibank offering this service and giving businesses a taste of the innovation consumers are fast growing used to.
