EXCLUSIVE – British PFM app Emma today announced an integration with its second banking partner, Starling Bank, since gaining approval from the FCA (Financial Conduct Authority) to operate under the new PSD2 mandate.
“Our customers can now use Starling’s Open Banking APIs to connect their accounts to Emma…This is our 2nd OB integration, the first one was Monzo,” Emma co-founder and CEO Edoardo Moreni told Bank Innovation in an email today.
Based in London, Emma is still in beta, “but is onboarding on a daily basis,” Moreni said. The app aggregates a user’s bank accounts and credit cards to give them a full picture of their finances. It alerts users on overdrafts, tracks debt, prompts them to save money as well as keeps track of all their subscriptions.
In January, Emma received approval from the FCA under the Payment Services Regulations 2017 for the provision of payment services to be able to access European bank data.
The next step is to gain approval to initiate payments within the app, so users can transfer funds between their various accounts and credit cards.
The Emma app is free, is available on both iOS and Android.
Currently, all the major banks, including challenger bank Monzo, and credit cards (including American Express) can be connected to Emma.
The app is set to go live in the U.K. later this year, Moreni told Bank Innovation.
