canstockphoto12290001Forty fintechs, big and small, demoed at Finovate Europe’s opening day of demos in London this year. From wealth management to chatbots and online ID providers — there are a lot of companies to choose from.

Here’s our take on who stood out from the bunch. (The full list of companies can be found here.)

James

Jame is an AI engine for credit risk. The startup developed an online credit risk management tool that allows FIs to create, validate, deploy, and monitor regulation-ready predictive models. The startup leverages machine learning algorithms for its models and scorecards.

HooYu

This customer identification tool verifies customers by analyzing their digital footprint, as well as biometric features. Customers are prompted to take a selfie, take a photo of their ID, and share their social media accounts. HooYu then spits out an identity confirmation report showing how many sources confirm the customer’s identity attributes.

bankUp

BankUp is a neobank targeting SMEs. “FX, transfers, lending products, accounting, trade data… and more feature are being added every month,” according to the company’s website. BankUp is built on the Microsoft Azure platform, and utilizes Cortana machine learning to provide users with insights based on their financial situation.

Moven

The mobile-centric banking app Moven announced the launch of its U.K. app during Finovate Europe this year. Recently, Moven also launched a Smart Savings account, providing customers with behavioral-based savings advice.

Wealthify

U.K.-based Wealthify is a robo-investing platform that aims to “bust the myth” of online investing. The company plans to extend its product offerings to include pensions and other types of ISAs (individual savings accounts).

EarlyBird

Think of EarlyBird as Twitter for finance professionals. The software provides a read-only view of curated Twitter content so that finance professionals can easily and quickly view the tweets pertaining to their professional interests (things like $CashTags, stock influencers, and company-curated content).

nCino

NCino builds cloud-based banking systems for financial services, providing an end-to-end solution that combines CRM, loan origination, workflow, enterprise content management, and instant reporting capabilities. nCino integrates with the bank’s core and transactional systems.
